Acting and Editing
The acting so far is okay, it’s just two officers in the car talking. And it’s not really much editing going on in the beginning. The lighting is very bright as if they’re the spotlight.Costume design for the officers is very simple, they look like they belong back in 1990. The high-speed chase looks like something you would actually see in real life, not a movie set. When one of the officers got shot it didn’t seem too real, but when he got shot the second time that seemed real. The special effects for blood could have been better. Listening to the way they talk, they speak with a southern accent soI’mm assuming this is taking place in the south. When the officer is in the hospital and he was hallucinating about seeing his partner, that was good editing because I too thought he was in the room. When the cop started feeling the dead flowers he then looked at clocked, that caused for speculation. When the officer got out the bed, his body dropped to the floor as if he was too weak to stand. The way his body dropped seemed so natural and not over dramatic like most actors seem to do. Even though he was in pain, he didn’t start screaming and yelling as if he was dying. Also, the sound in this is giving a lot more feel as to what the viewers are feeling. The sound will have you trying to figure out what about to happen next. The zombie on the ground next to the bike didn’t really look like a zombie, it looked more like a mummy as if its been there for years as the disease just recently started to kill people. The way the screened faded to a complete black scream as if we passed out right along with the officer. That was a clever idea. The set design so far is very simple, it’s nothing too complicated as though it just seems to be just places. I feel as though the little boy was being dramatic with his crying, I’m guessing that was his mother by the way he reacted but he knew that his loud cry could have them discovered. Now all the zombies are starting to actually look the part, even though they’re dead inside; they’re also alive but the special effects on their face show they’re still somewhat alive and not completely dead. The officer who shot one of the deputies who turned zombie seemed so real. That shot in the head was so graphic from the splatter of the blood to the dropping of the body was life like. The wife of the survivor doesn’t really look like much a zombie, she looks sick more than anything. The officer is acting in his normal daily agenda, he being so calm about the whole situation. As we continue to go through this episode there’s still minor editing. The officers uniform is so neat and crisp as if nothing happened. There’s a lot of zooming in and panning out in this episode. There’s a horse on a family’s land and he sees it as his only mean of transportation to get gas. The set design for the city being deserted is kind of bright. In most movies when a tragedy happens, it tends to stay dark throughout the whole movie or scene. In this case, this episode shows day and night of the tragedy going on. The shot that happened in the army truck had a slight time delay of the blood splatter. The ending showed a sign of hope, the officer didn’t expect to hear from anybody but he did. And the way the camera zoomed in on his face shows a facial expression of relief. After all this the director wanted the viewers to walk away communicating that the idea of this series is going to be about strategising.
