Introduction to Visual Analysis Essay

The purpose of this piece was to analyze and argue. We were to determine an overall theme that was communicated by the painting and explain three objects in the artwork that were symbolically to that idea. The intended audience of this piece was a close friend and/or family member. When analyzing this picture for this piece I first looked at each object in the painting and asked did it have any meaning. If the answer was no I would move on to the next object and if next object was answered yes, I would than ask what was the symbol behind that object. After determining the symbol behind the object I would ask how does it communicate back to the overall theme/idea of the painting. From this piece I learned that knowing what questions to ask could have made the writing process easier. Just because one questioned is answered doesn’t mean it can give you all the information needed. The strengths in this piece for me were my ideas that I had, and having actual symbols behind each subject. As far as my weaknesses in this piece would have been the organization of the ideas. Also another weakness for me would have been the grammar/mechanic errors. I don’t really have any questions for this piece, I just need to improve on how to properly analyze anything given to me. This assignment effected my understanding of the term “voice in writing” just a little bit. The more I write these kind of papers I improve over time not by much but I still improve.
